What's YOUR take on the budget situation?

I have to say to a certain degree, I agree with Ellen. It just doesn't make any sense politically for Gov. Jindal or the majority of the legislature to deliberately screw higher education or the LSU system specifically, but I don't think it will stop them from continuing cuts at other state colleges including Nicholls State and Louisiana Tech, which I don't agree with.
ReplyDeleteMegan, I agree with you to an extent. On the other hand, I think that those schools will not experience catastrophic cuts because these guys all have to go home to their districts and will have to seek re-election. Incumbency is the most important thing to legislators and if they can't save their home districts' higher ed (i.e. Nicholls, ULL, La Tech, ULM), they will lose their jobs.
